After taking over a 30 year old traditional chimney service company operated by a career firefighter in 2001, Stephen Calnan, himself a retired career firefighter and paramedic, realized that rapidly changing technologies, outdated and deteriorating systems and code requirements were revolutionizing the industry. Chimney Sweeping Etc. LLC was then established and quickly became a state and local leader in obtaining continuous advanced training and certifications to meet consumer demands and needs. We are a mix of the long tradition of sweeps and the new age of science and technology.
Chimney Sweeping Etc. is an active member of the National Chimney Sweep Guild, The Chimney Safety Institute of America, State and local Chamber of Commerce and we are one of the four original founding members of the Maine Association of Chimney Service Professionals.

Our customer base consists largely of the average home owner, the real estate market, insurance companies, the building trade, masons, investigatory agencies and the HVAC industry. We provide our customers with sweeping, inspections, investigations, consulting, new manufactured chimney construction, chimney lining, related hardware installations, small masonry repair projects, vent and appliance installations and in 2008 we are adding a new department to service cleaning and maintaining dryer vent ducts, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning vent and duct cleaning.
